Ms. Lindsey started her teaching career in 2012 in public education. While teaching elementary she noticed the power of students being active in their own learning. Lindsey taught at two homeschool hybrid programs and enjoyed learning about the different philosophies of education and having the freedom to teach in a way that seemed most beneficial for the students. She learned that abundant time in nature gives children the opportunity to build confidence, take healthy risks, learn responsibility, and use their imagination and creativity. Wild Wonders was developed from this exact dream. She wanted this type of education for her children. An education where children's innate curiosity and interests lead their way, farm and nature immersion are part of their daily experiences, and children can stay children.
Ava grew up on a family farm in Salmon Idaho, much like Wild Wonders. Ava graduated from the University of Montana following a pre-medical track with a bachelors in Biology and minor in Communication. During college, she was a peer tutor for various biology classes and even co-taught a class on pedagogy- teaching how to teach. She spent her summers guiding whitewater rafting trips down the Salmon River and helping to run the family rafting business. During the winters, Ava taught youth and high school hockey in Missoula. Following college, Ava worked a summer at a Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in San Juan Island WA where she learned additional skills working with animals of all varieties. Since then, Ava has spent the last year in Bozeman working as a nanny and private homeschool educator until she found Wild Wonders. Ava is passionate about integrating learning with nature, being a nerd about biology, and creating an environment that inspires kids to love learning as well.
Hannah was raised in the Gallatin Valley and graduated from Montana State University. Her first passion was training and showing horses, where she learned grit and hard work at a young age. Hannah helped co-teach a horsemanship class during her time at MSU and also taught equestrian lessons to children in central Oregon obtaining a certification in Therapeutic Horsemanship. Alongside her love of horses she also pursues snowboarding, mountain biking, and trail running and feels that her consistent time in the outdoors has helped to bring a grounded perspective into her life. Hannah has always been drawn to children and has nannied for many families in the Gallatin Valley. She has three of her own children and is passionate about sharing her outdoor pursuits with them. Hannah’s extensive time spent with children and her intentional time spent outdoors has led her family to Wild Wonders, pursuing an alternative education for them. Hannah believes deeply in Wild Wonders mission of a more engaged learning system and the value of creating lifelong learners.
